Reiki (Universal Life Force Energy)

Reiki is an ancient healing method that was rediscovered in the late 1800′s by Dr. Mikao Usui. The word “Reiki” is Japanese in origin, and is made up of two parts. the first part “Rei” means universal and “Ki” means life force. This healing energy is channeled through the hands of a Reiki practitioner providing the received with this healing energy through chakras or energy centers. this restores balance, energizes the body and mind, lowers blood pressure, speeds up the healing process and lessens pain-physical and emotional. One is left with a sense of ease and well-being after a session. There are no complicated rituals to perform. Reiki is so simple that a child may learn to use it.

What is a Session Like?
Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive treatment with no requirement to undress. Alternatively, it may be incorporated into your massage session. A session is very relaxing, lying on a massage table, or it can also be done with the person sitting in a chair. The practitioner then sends the energy by utilizing various hand positions over the client’s body, depending on the client’s needs and to where the healing energies guide them. During the treatment Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, warmth, tingling or nothing at all (the latter does not mean that the energy is not flowing). Reiki is relaxing and has a calming effect. Some people feel energized after their session while others experience an emotional release as energy shifts within the body, everyone experiences Reiki differently.

“…defined as primordial consciousness-the oneness of all. and like all the life, is varied in its expression. And so the experience of Reiki becomes an individualized story for each person receiving it or sharing it with others. Two basic themes emerged from the many stories told: Reiki just is, and is the practice, just let Reiki be. It’s the “letting be” that allows Reiki to express through the person at whatever level or quantity is needed. There is no intention, or directing. there is only that Reiki connection that opens up expansion to the primordial consciousness and allows it to flow and settle, to create balance and relaxation. An unabashed acceptance of not knowing how or why it works. But then, despite our scientific endeavors and generations of investigation of the universe and its source, that oneness of life indeed remains a mystery. So we are left with the mystical essence of life- what is described as the essence of Reiki..”
