Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT)

Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) is a form of bodywork that uses a type of soft tissue massage, which incorporates stretching and massage of the connective tissues, or fascia. MRT involves releasing and unwinding the fascia (connective tissue). This tissue layer, which connects every muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, and organ in our bodies, can hold onto memories from stress or physical trauma. MRT seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia.

The therapist uses long, stretching strokes to release muscular tension. This technique helps relieve pain and tension that may be caused from injury or stress. Releasing these restrictions, frees up the muscle and allows it to move more easily and effectively. Sessions can include craniosacral work, stretching techniques, and deep tissue work.
