(April 14th) – Back and neck pain is something that I never used to take notice of, simply because I was so used to it. Ever since my big car accident 7 years ago my back and neck have hurt constantly, and it was something I had come to accept. I have been in three car accidents. I often forget the first one because it was so minor, but it was enough to leave me stiff for a couple of days as my arms took all of the impact.
About a year later a drunk driver from behind hit me, and that is when the pain started. I could barely walk for 2 weeks, and 9 month of chiropractic visits did not do much to solve the problem. The final blow was when I was t-boned by a driver going 50 mph on a 25 mph road. He hit the driver’s side door right by my legs and shoved my car about 20 yards down the road.
After that, I thought my fate was sealed. My neck had already sustained serious injury from the drunk driver, and the second hit finalized it. Since then I have become accustomed to sleepless nights due to back pain and waking up with throbbing headaches due to my neck. I had become so accustomed to it that I barely noticed anymore unless something was acting up.
For Christmas, I received a gift certificate to Caring Hand Massage, and after a particularly brutal snow shoveling session I decided it was time to put it to use. A couple of weeks later Ann-Marie was kind extended an invitation to help her practice some new techniques she was learning. She needed someone with “real issues” to practice on and I fit the bill perfectly.
Follow my story over the next couple of weeks.
